Summer Series Scoring Update #1

This is our first scoring update for the 2013 RACE Thursday 5K Summer Series! Listed below are the individual point totals after the first race in the series. (There is a Google doc for female & male point results embedded below; refresh if it didn’t display when you first loaded the page).

2013 Season (6 events) Points Competition:

Top 3 male & female overall (total points from coed/open races)
Top 3 in each age group (total points from all races)
Top 3 fastest teams
Largest team

Scoring points, explained:
Overall winners (female & male) each get 1,000 points. Then we’ll divide the winner’s time by your time and multiply it by 1,000 points to determine your score. Yeah guys, that female behind you may score more points than you.

Send any result or spelling corrections to support@racemenu.com, and don’t forget – the next 2013 RACE Thursday 5K Summer Series event is on June 6th; sign up today!

We compiled a list of events for May to help you decide where to head this month. Hope to see you at a few of these in the coming weeks!

May 11th – The Chelsea Chase 5K benefits the Jordan Boys & Girls Club and the Chelsea Police Relief Association. A great additional benefit to walkers & runners with a race that supports a police relief organization – there is PHENOMENAL course traffic control. While the course is slightly modified, the race returns for a second year out of host bar the Dockside. SIGN UP

May 11th – In our opinion, it is never too early to hit the beach. Join the Westport Fisherman’s Association for their 9th Annual Run For The Water at Horseneck Beach! Choose from 8K race or 5K family fun run/walk. Cash to top 3 M/F finishers in the 8K, plus pulled pork and cole slaw provided by Back Eddy Restaurant. SIGN UP

May 12th – Here Comes Your Mother – You Better Run! What better way to celebrate Mother’s Day than with a race with Mom? This 5k/10k race is presented by GIRLS ON THE GO – and they will be supporting one of their “GIRLs” that is battling Multiple Myeloma.  All of the money will be going to Beth Israel Hosptial in reference to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation – MMRF is an incurable form of Blood Cancer. We’ll see you in Pembroke! SIGN UP

May 18thCompete for the Cause – Cornhole tourney on the roofdeck at the Cambridgeside Galleria. What?? There’s a roofdeck?! Yea, that was our reaction, too. Enjoy friendly competition, good music, food & beverages. This fundraiser helps the CYSTEM, a 100% volunteer operated organization, present youth athletic & academic enrichment program at no charge for their members or families.  SIGN UP

May 18th – Medway Community Farm 5K – Celebrate spring & take pride in Medway by supporting the Medway Community Farm’s 4th Annual race! Did you take part in the Shamrock Shuffle in March in Medway? The same course is used – see how much faster you are with the warmer weather (and extra weeks of training)! SIGN UP

May 19th – At the Herring Run & Paddle in Somerville, you’ve got a chance to test your speed either by land with a flat & fast 5K along the Mystic River or by water in the paddling race (3, 9 & 12 mile distances to choose from)! Think you’ve got what it takes to be named the “Iron Herring”? Post the fastest combined 5K run & 12 mile paddle time. The Mystic River Watershed Association pulls together a TON of raffle prizes; make sure to stick around – age group winners & randomly selected bib numbers alike get a chance to get a prize from sponsors! SIGN UP

May 19th – The 34th Annual Hazelwood Women’s 5K presented by the Greater New Bedford Track Club is one of the longest-running women only road races in the country. This fast & flat course covers the scenic New Bedford waterfront, beginning and ending in Hazelwood Park. The course record is a blazing 17:27! SIGN UP

May 25th – The #OneRun, a FREE event, is being organized collaboratively by representatives from several running clubs, teams, events, businesses and organizations in the Greater Boston area. Our goal with the #onerun is to give runners and spectators an opportunity to experience the final mile of the marathon while also bringing hundreds of thousands of dollars in consumer spending to Back Bay. The City of Boston informed us that the free #OneRun event, or something very similar, will hopefully take place on the morning of Saturday May 25th but details are still being finalized. RSVP on FACEBOOK

May 26th –
On the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, head to Cambridge for the 1st Annual ECBA – Freedom Run to kick off the summer at East Cambridge Business Association’s super-patriotic 5K that honors the soldiers who fight to protect us! Registration includes a shirt + post-race party sponsored by Notch, Slumbrew, Baxter & Night Shift. SIGN UP
